Finished reading: The Perfect Golden Circle by Benjamin Myers ๐
Poetic. I really enjoy the characters and snapshots of their worlds that Benjamin Myers creates.
At last count there were seven of us in the micro.blog Fantasy Premier League mini-league. It would be great to see a few more players join us ahead of the new season. If you want to take part everything you need is in this post ๐ฎโฝ
I have decided that for future posts about fantasy football Iโm going to use this emoji combo ๐ฎโฝ๏ธ
Had an odd experience at a restaurant last week where the atmosphere was at complete odds with what they claimed on their website. I donโt often leave reviews, negative or otherwise, but felt compelled to comment. Just had a response that basically said itโs your problem not ours ๐
Finished reading: A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers ๐
When I opened this book I was a little sad not to be continuing the journey with the crew of the Wayfarer. Then the story got going and I realised spending time getting to know Pepper and Sidra was going to be even better.
Forced into making drop scones for the sole purpose of trying out this chilli marmalade. Itโs a bit spicy ๐ถ๏ธ๐ค
Finished reading: The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers ๐
Perfect holiday reading. I enjoyed this so much Iโve immediately started book two.
26 off the final over ๐ Can England summon up another record run chase to keep the final game competitive? ๐
Kate Cross and Heather Knight, Englandโs heroes today. Canโt wait for the next episode of the No Balls podcast and the ball by ball walk through of that winning partnership ๐
Finished reading: The Long Good-bye by Raymond Chandler ๐
This may be the start of a Raymond Chandler / classic detective fiction book binge.
Stop press: England have won an Ashes match ๐
Are there any other Fantasy Premier League players out there in micro.blog land? โฝ๏ธ
For the record: I am not a fan of on court interviews ๐พ
Always Be My Maybe, 2019 - โ โ

Needed something light for the end of my first week at work and this fit the bill perfectly. I enjoyed the broad story and central relationships. Not sold on the big name cameo though and at least one joke left a bit of a bitter taste.
January to June in the park
Full Time, 2021 - โ โ โ โ

Before we went to see this I was flippantly referring to it as Run Lola Run for the middle aged. Itโs not quite, but it did get my heart racing in a similar way and a lot of that is down to the use of sound.
There were moments that had me on the edge of my seat, as well as a lot of subtlety in script, direction and performance.
Hmm, feels like such a missed opportunity to steal are rare win from Australia today. Kind of glad I couldnโt listen to this morningโs session. In other respects a thoroughly entertaining test match. Excited for the rest of the series and glad to be able to watch the first T20 on the BBC ๐
Finished reading: A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman ๐
I thoroughly enjoyed spending the last week or so with Ove and Iโm going to miss him. This one will stay with me a long while and I can see myself rereading it, which is rare for me.
My family are at Trent Bridge today. Seems like theyโve been good luck for Englandโs bowlers. Bring on the chase ๐
