    First ๐Ÿ… harvest

Three yellow cherry tomatoes sitting in the palm of a hand.

Today epitomises the different approaches to relaxation taken in our household. One of us made two cakes, mincemeat and the Christmas pudding, then cleaned the car. The other watched two football matches, the netball World Cup final and kept one eye on The Hundred. We walked the dog together.

As soon as you notice that the Welsh Fire kit makes them look like a team of vicars you canโ€™t unsee it ๐Ÿ

Getting quite emotional here watching Broad steam in for his last few overs. The roar that went up from the crowd when he got Murphyโ€™s wicket just about finished me off ๐Ÿฅฒ๐Ÿ

“His mind is a thousand ball bearings in a biscuit tin.”

๐Ÿ’ฌ The Perfect Golden Circle by Benjamin Myers

My wife and I often have conversations about what it’s like in our minds. Hers is loud, perhaps something like this biscuit tin. Mine is quiet.

I’ve been thinking about an analogy for the quiet that I experience for a few days and I’m stuck on the image of a slide projector. There’s one thing in focus at a time with others queued up for later. Occasionally it gets stuck and the slide in focus isn’t the one that’s supposed to be shown.

Poetic. I really enjoy the characters and snapshots of their worlds that Benjamin Myers creates.

At last count there were seven of us in the micro.blog Fantasy Premier League mini-league. It would be great to see a few more players join us ahead of the new season. If you want to take part everything you need is in this post ๐Ÿ”ฎโšฝ

I have decided that for future posts about fantasy football Iโ€™m going to use this emoji combo ๐Ÿ”ฎโšฝ๏ธ

Had an odd experience at a restaurant last week where the atmosphere was at complete odds with what they claimed on their website. I donโ€™t often leave reviews, negative or otherwise, but felt compelled to comment. Just had a response that basically said itโ€™s your problem not ours ๐Ÿ˜‚

When I opened this book I was a little sad not to be continuing the journey with the crew of the Wayfarer. Then the story got going and I realised spending time getting to know Pepper and Sidra was going to be even better.

Forced into making drop scones for the sole purpose of trying out this chilli marmalade. Itโ€™s a bit spicy ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ค

Drop scone with a bite take from it covered in a thin layer of preserve. Open jar of orange marmalade with Yorkshire chillies in the background.

Perfect holiday reading. I enjoyed this so much Iโ€™ve immediately started book two.

26 off the final over ๐Ÿ˜ Can England summon up another record run chase to keep the final game competitive? ๐Ÿ

Kate Cross and Heather Knight, Englandโ€™s heroes today. Canโ€™t wait for the next episode of the No Balls podcast and the ball by ball walk through of that winning partnership ๐Ÿ

Finished reading: The Long Good-bye by Raymond Chandler ๐Ÿ“š

This may be the start of a Raymond Chandler / classic detective fiction book binge.

Stop press: England have won an Ashes match ๐Ÿ

Are there any other Fantasy Premier League players out there in micro.blog land? โšฝ๏ธ
