Finished reading: My Name Is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout πŸ“š

    Quick weekend read.

Test print complete βœ… Work to do on the inking, especially of the blue but I’m super happy with how the design has turned out. This view of a house martin in flight is my highlight of the summer, was watching them play while sitting in the yard last night

Two colour linocut print. Black and white outline of a house martin on a blue background.

Pre-match and half-time β€˜shows’ at major sporting events make me sad 😞

Not far into this but can’t help feeling that it’s like an accessible version of Ducks, Newburyport

    Starting a new project 🎨

Two squares of lino side by side. Left has outline in black marker of a house martin in flight with wings spread. Right is identical outline of the bird with additional detail on the wings.

Considering this as a new response when people ask how old I am: β€œAs old as Ghostbusters.”

Espresso martinis on a Thursday night. Just because.

Finished reading: GREY BEES. by ANDREY. KURKOV πŸ“š

How much I enjoyed this book and how much I cared for the bees really crept up on me. I’m going to miss starting my days with Sergey and his bees.

Currently reading: Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman πŸ“š

In anticipation of having more demands on my time when I start a new role at the end of the month, I’m finally sitting down to read this.

Breakfasts just got more interesting 🍳

Egg box with sticky note attached reading β€œFree to a good home. Fresh duck eggs.”Open egg box holding six large duck eggs covered in dirt.

    Lunch in the park

The Byker Wall looking resplendent in the early evening sun

Tower block with white cladding and red balconies set against a bright blue sky

Time plays a role when there’s someone to keep track of it, to depend on it. And if no-one like that remains then time, too, stops and disappears.

I’ve been trying to learn how to identify birds by their songs, it wasn’t going well until I discovered Merlin. It allows you to record what you’re hearing and picks out the individual birds. The one highlighted in yellow is the active/loudest bird singing.

Screenshot of Merlin app during a recording. Sound wave at top followed by a list of all the active birds including name and thumbnail picture. The birds listed are: Eurasian Blackbird, House Sparrow, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Barn Swallow, European Greenfinch.

Last day of the Premier League season. Last day of FPL. Actually looking forward to a break from it all and switching my attention to cricket for the summer ⚽️🏏

Football shirts laid out in formation of a football team in 3-4-3 formation. This is the lineup of my Fantasy Premier League team today. Starting XI: De Gea, Trippier, Gabriel, Alexander-Arnold, Fernandes, Mahrez, Gakpo, Eze, Kane (captain), Wilson, Watkins. Substitutes: Iversen, Mitoma, Andersen, Dunk.

    Work in progress

External breeze block wall with flaking paint and bare patches in the centre. Painting in progress from left to right with clear line marking done and not done. Open paint can in view on a low brick wall.

My lunchtime treat after running a workshop all morning is another episode of Voyager

I used to import my letterboxd reviews to micro.blog. I switched it off recently but want to revert back now. My question… will it duplicate old posts when I do that?
